What things should I consider when measuring my yard for tent compatibility?
- Refer to the pencil sketch on this page for your tent’s measurements. These can be found in the “read more” section for your tent.
- Your space must be 5 FT larger on all sides than your tent size (30 x 30 , 30 x 40, or 30 x 50)and met the requirements below.
- Call J.U.L.I.E, the underground marking company, and ensure the location of the tent legs or guy lines are 2 feet off any markings. J.U.L.I.E. can be reached by dialing 811. Sprinkler systems and septic tanks cannot be seen or marked by JULIE, or our staff; it is the homeowner’s responsibility to guide the staff on these items.
- Place away from trees and the branches. You would be responsible for any damage done to the canopy due to tree branches staining or ripping the canopy.
- Consider the flattest section of your yard for the location. Tents cannot be installed over steep grades.
- Distance 5 FT from fencing and other solid structures so tent poles can be lifted into place.
- The tent canopy needs to be able to lie flat on the ground during installation and CANNOT be lifted over retaining walls, trees, deck railings, shrubs, etc.
- If you have an underground sprinkler system, you must have someone on-site that knows where the lines are to instruct the staff on where it is safe to stake. Mark each sprinkler head and run string to show the lines. We are not responsible for any damage to sprinkler systems.
- If you have a septic system, you must have someone on-site that knows where it is located. Tents cannot be placed in that area. We are not responsible for any damage to septic systems.
- Each tent leg is staked with 2 stakes. Each stake has an underground depth of 26″.
- Tents cannot be installed in gravel, dirt, or sand.
- Cooking is NOT allowed under any of our tents. Stains will occur and you will be financially responsible for cleaning and/or replacement of the tent canopy.
- Do not adhere decorations to the canopy or near the canopy as permanent stains occur that you are responsible for.
No, they cannot. The only tables and chairs that can be outside in the rain are patio furniture, and that is not what we rent. Water causes the tables to warp and delaminate and the chairs to rust. While the items are in your care, you are responsible for keeping them dry and returning them in the condition they were sent out in. Items returned damaged from water will incur negligent damage fees.
Yes. Effective January 1, 2025 the State of Illinois is charging sales and use tax on rental items. You can read about it here:https://tax.illinois.gov/research/publications/bulletins/fy-2025-15.html. For those with tax exemption status, you must provide a copy of your Tax-Exempt Certificate from the State of Illinois with each rental.
This is a situation that we all want to avoid. The best thing to do is to measure your yard before placing your order, or hire us to come out and do a yard check. Should the tent not fit; our cancelation policy would apply. You would lose the deposit.
Our tents have 2 foot long stakes which could potentially damage underground utilities. JULIE can not detect sprinkler lines, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to have both the sprinkler heads and lines marked prior to our arrival.
A quote is merely a statement of current costs for the items you have requested. The items are not reserved in your name from a quote and may not be available for you to rent if you call back at a later date. A reservation usually requires a deposit of 50% of the total order cost. Once a reservation has been made the items are reserved for you on the date/time noted in the reservation.
Items must be returned in the condition they were rented in. This means keep the items dry. Items must NOT be left out in the rain as the rain will cause damage that you would be responsible for. Exceptions for tents, dunk tank and the wet slide bounce house. Items should be wiped clean of any food or mud. Items should not be damaged. Items returned wet, dirty or broken will incur additional fees as stated in our contract.
The rate reflects the minimum cost for the item to leave the store whether you have it for 1 hour or the whole weekend. By calling it a weekend rate we want you to know you can pick up your item(s) up on either Friday or Saturday and return on Monday, so you don’t have so much to do the day of your event.
No. We require a deposit and a credit card on file for all reservations and it is never safe to send credit card information through Email.
No, we do not offer set up for tables and chairs. The delivery team only drops off to the driveway or garage. Additional fees will be incurred by the customer for deliveries or pick-ups from the backyard. Delivery into a home is not permitted for insurance purposes.
The rate quoted includes the Damage Waiver. Damage Waiver covers accidental damage, it does not cover theft, abuse, or misuse. Items still need to be kept dry. Damage Waiver is a rental industry standard whether renting from us or a tool at Home Depot. While not insurance, it is similar as the fee is not returned at the end of the rental. Your scheduled order email will have the terms and conditions page included and the damage waiver is covered in more detail. It is #4.
